We are out of Solar Eclipse glasses.  Sorry!

Try us again in 2044.

Our Jonathan Green do-it-yourself lawn soil testing station for pH levels is available.  See the display for instructions on how to prepare your soil sample.   The Jonathan Green approach is to get the soil right and the grass will follow.   Most Big Box fertilizer programs seem to ignore this important step.  The UMass Extension program will also test soil and provide more thorough testing.  We have a simple and direct way to give you one actionable measurement here at the store.

We will again be testing pool water as a courtesy for our True Value Rewards customers purchasing their supplies from us.  We will sign you up if you have not already done so.  We will certainly test your water, but without the True Value Rewards account, we charge $10.  Our testing is tuned to the Essential Elements pool chemicals line.

Yes.  The rumors are True.  We sell live fish bait.

Where in the world is Brother Bruce Round?  He is in Japan with a Judo team operated by his son.   While there he experienced an earthquake, interesting food, the sights, a Japanese wood working class, and toured urban hardware stores.  All the packaging was in Japanese... very confusing.

Need something to do during the Eclipse because you waited too long to buy solar eclipse glasses? Do a puzzle by Springbok Puzzles.   Several new images in 250, 500, and 1000 piece puzzles printed on heavy stock designed to keep the most aggressive "puzzle-doer" busy.  New puzzle images to arrive May/June.

Sorry.  We do not service lawn mowers, snow blowers, or other power equipment at Round's True Value.  We do stock TruFuel for all your small lawn and hand-held power equipment.  Using gas station gasoline can cost you more than you think.   Read my thoughts and suggestions on the care and feeding of power equipment on the link on the left hand side of this page.

Yes, we cut window glass to size while you wait.  See the sheet sizes we stock by typing WINDOW GLASS in the search box above.  We would use the sheet nearest your size.  Two cuts are included in the price.  Additional cuts are $2 each.  We stock what is referred to as "single strength" glass.  This is approximately 3/32" of an inch and is the traditional glass sold in hardware store.   It is NOT suitable for storm doors or table tops.  Customers have reported quotes from $400 to $800 to replace glass in wood frame windows.  Find a YOUTUBE video that speaks to you.  Perhaps you can do the work yourself.  We can sell you the glass, putty, and tools.

We stock fresh water fish bait.   Make it a point to get your live bait at Round's, and get it early.  New stock delivered Thursday after 4pm. We also have a curated assortment of fishing tackle to top off your tackle box.  Ask for Mr Round's Fisherman's luck to be added to your purchase.  Remember, if fishing was all about catching... they'd call it "catching" instead of "fishing."  Be a "catcher" with live bait from Round's.  No salt water bait available from us.

www.roundshardware.com is the site you are now on. It shows all our inventory tracked by stock number.  It does NOT have an on-line sales cart.  It's for information only. When calling in it is very helpful to have the stock number so we can see what you see.

Mr Round (that's Bill Round, Senior 1927 - 2021) has been gone for three years now.  His notorious basset hounds have been gone for 12 years. Mrs Round (that was Olive G. Round, 1928 - 1986) was the proprietor of the Doll House shop on the second floor of our building.  The doll house business was sold and operated into the late 90's.  It's gone.  We still get a call about doll houses every few months.  I presented a talk on the "History of Round House Doll Houses" for the Stoneham Historical Society in June 2023.  I will again present this for the Stoneham Council on Aging in the Spring of 2024.  If you have a doll house shop recollection or worked with Mrs Round, please share this with us.

Stories about Mr Round have taken on a life of their own. We still hear new ones from friends and customers.  If you have a story about an encounter with Mr Round, his hounds, the store, or any memorable recollection, please share this with us.  A customer recently told a story about Mr. Round shopping at Stop n' Shop... while his basset hound grabbed a steak and walked out of the store. He swore it was true.

We now have an on-line sales site for in-store pick-up only:    www.shoproundshardware.com.  This site has not only Round's Hardware items but True Value special order items we do not carry.  Call us for questions at 781.438.0116.

Are we hiring?  Not at the moment, but we will place a notice on INDEED.com in late April or May.

Questions?  Please call Bill or Bruce Round at 781.438.0116.  Any of our staff members who answer should be able to assist you as well.  We do give priority to customers in the store, so there will be times when are unable to do stock checks via phone.  Had a good experience at Round's?  Please leave us a review on one of the review sites.  These help.  Had a bad experience?  Leave a bad review on Google as we will be notified quickly.  A two-year old bad review doesn't help us or anyone else.
