These are round disks of calcium chloride which can be thrown to a roof top where ice dams occur. The theory is that the ice melter can be placed directly where it will do the most good, opening up channels for water to leave the roof ice dam .
We have used a sling shot to shoot these to the top of our roof at the store. It's best to throw or shoot these while the snow is still soft as they will bounce off the ice crust that can form after repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Keep the container tightly-closed after use. Calcium Chloride is hydroscopic. Product left exposed to the air will pull moisture into the bucket and become a solid mass of unuseable material.

A 14LB bucket contains 60 roof melt ice tabs.
