Fluidmaster Seal Kit 100/200

Replacement Rubber Diaphragm washer. This washer will repair #100 or #200A AND 400A Fluidmaster Toilet Ballcocks.

There are tens of millions of Fluidmaster Ballcock toilet fill valves in service today, and this brand is very common in the Stoneham, Massachusetts market. The residential repair and replacement market usually features a plastic base unit. Brass base units are usually sold into the plumbing trade. All of them use the same rubber diaphram washer.

This washer can fail a few different ways, and there is a failure that can be intermitent and annoying that can affect a ballcock in otherwise good working order.

Access the diaphram washer by turning off the supply valve, removing the toilet tank top, then pushing down on the top of the Fluidmaster ballcock and twisting counter clockwise 1/4 turn. The cap should come off. The washer will be beneath the cap. There is a short wire actuator in the center of the washer. This connects to the float lever. You can pry the washer out with your fingers or a knife point.

The diaphram washer can become sticky through years of exposure to chlorinated water. Normal wear over the years will leave a seal contact impression. The more pronounced the round contact impression on the washer where it seats in the cap, the less likely the wash is to seal properly. Replace it. You're in there anyway, so do it. Sometime the washer can rip. This is a rare failure.

An occasional "system" failue occurs when shut-off valve washer debrie or sand and gravel from the municipal water system jamb in the seal assembly. This can be easily cleared by removing the top cap, covering the top of the ballcock valve with a plastic water glass, and doing a few blasts of water to clear the line. There have been cases where debrie floats up and down in the supply line cause intermittant failure. You will need an assistant to do this. BRjr 12.14
