This unit is relevant for toilets manufactured before 1994.

The standard fill valve refill ration at that time was 80% of incoming water to the tank and 20% to the bowl.

Too little water in the bowl will not drive a full and complete flush. Too much water will simply flow over the back of the bowl to drive up your water bill.

If you had installed a ballcock designed to operate with modern specifications, you might find that it does not flush properly. This valve can correct that problem in most cases. BRjr 09.2014
